Maeslantkering closure


The annual Maeslantkering closure takes place on the last weekend of September. The Maeslantkering is the storm flood barrier which crosses the Nieuwe Waterweg between the Hoek of Holland and Rotterdam.

Veenvaart, Drenthe



A new cruising route in Drenthe is now available with the opening of the Veenvaart waterway. This 20km canal links Ter Apel on the Musselkanaal to Erica at the east end of the Verlengde Hoogeveensche Vaart.

Top 10 sights from the water in Leiden


A circuit of the small Leiden canals is a 'must-do' - joining the crowds in their sloops. Stop off at the numerous quays or bars for refreshment en route, or do as the Dutch do and pack a picnic hamper. Be careful with navigation, as some of the bridges are no longer navigable.
